By Hannah Bollman & Alicia Teschner, 2018
The basis of this project was laid in the second semester as the project for Interactive & Social Media, Data Driven Journalism. This was the app they started developing for the Tiergarten Kleve.
Hannah and Alicia were inspired to make this app during their visits to the zoo, as they saw how children were interested in the animals, but did not pay attention to any of the info-plates on the enclosures. As zoos like this one are intended to not only bring children close to animals but also educate them, they developed an app to make visits to Tiergarten Kleve more interactive.
By scanning QR codes on the enclosures, simple quizzes about the animal inside are prompted. These quizzes are targeted at children between 9 and 12 years.
